6S Marketing’s co-founder, John Blown, is an active member of North Shore Rescue and can often be found saving lives before breakfast. John and his fellow teammates regularly rescue stranded individuals from dangerous conditions in the mountains, conduct urban search investigations, and educate the public on outdoor safety.
North Shore Rescue was able to reach its full potential largely due to the leadership of Tim Jones, team member since 1987 and an advanced life-support paramedic. Tim participated in 2,000 rescues during his lifetime, leading searches in freezing conditions which sometimes lasted several days. He also initiated a helicopter rescue program and was in the process of mentoring two new Helicopter Rescue Coordinators. He acted as the voice and motivational coach of the team.
All of us at 6S Marketing were deeply saddened and shocked to hear the news of Tim’s passing late Sunday night, January 19th. Tim was on his way back from the NSR headquarters at Mount Seymour when he suffered a heart attack.
John has posted about Tim’s great contributions to our community on the NSR blog. CBC recently ran a profile of the NSR team called To The Rescue. If you’re interested in learning more about NSR’s work, and Tim’s contribution to the team, it’s available to watch on the website. Tim truly worked to make the world a better place, and he will be missed by so many.
