6S Supports United Way and in the Process Boosts Staff Morale

Monday, October 26th, 2009

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

VANCOUVER, BC, October 26, 2009 – As an official partner of the campaign to enhance United Way of the Lower Mainland’s online presence, 6S Marketing has provided pro bono online marketing services and in the process engaged and motivated its staff.  Through important community support, 6S has effectively captured a direct and positive correlation between pro bono or community-based work and employee satisfaction.

“The online marketing services that we have provided on behalf of United Way are the perfect opportunity for us to support an organization that aims to improve communities and change lives,” says Chris Breikss, 6S Marketing Co-Founder and President. “It has also given the team at 6S a chance to be involved with a great cause and stay active within the community.”

Working alongside Domain 7 and Veratta, 6S is providing online marketing services to the United Way of the Lower Mainland, as a part of an overall online initiative aimed at raising awareness for the organizations’ cause. The project is centered on redesigning the website over the course of ten months. The work done by 6S Marketing also integrates the use of social media tools such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Flickr to engage and inform online readers.

The United Way project has enabled 6S employees to use their expertise towards a meaningful cause, and as a result, it has fostered both employee satisfaction and dedication. Based on a keen understanding of the importance of giving back to the community, 6S recognizes that employees become engaged and committed when they work for a company that is aligned with their values, and when they are able to find purpose in their work.

Additionally, the company acknowledges that pro bono work is an ideal way to ensure continued commitment in staff during tough economic times. During a time when pay raises and bonuses may not be plentiful, meaningful work serves to provide an alternative to solely monetary satisfaction.

As a company, 6S takes on multiple pro bono projects each year and participates and sponsors community events and initiatives. The company also encourages employees to suggest initiatives that the entire 6S team can contribute to.

“Being able to channel my knowledge and skills towards the United Way project has been extremely rewarding,” says Rachel Wills, an employee at 6S Marketing. “It is great to be part of a company that realizes the importance of being involved with organizations that support our communities.”

“Our organization relies on the generous support of companies like 6S. The talent and expertise at 6S allows us to use online tools to the best advantage. The pro bono commitment by 6S helps us to operate as efficiently as possible, so that more dollars raised by United Way can go directly to strengthening lives throughout Metro Vancouver,” said Michael Becker, assistant director of communications at United Way of the Lower Mainland.

6S Marketing was recently named one of British Columbia’s Top 50 employers. The United Way project began in August 2009, and the website is currently in the process of being redesigned, http://www.uwlm.ca

Tweet With Us at Massive Tech Show 2009

Thursday, March 26th, 2009

6S Marketing is sponsoring the Massive Technology Show, being held at UBC Robson Square on April 1st, 2009.

6S is putting a unique spin on traditional networking & tradeshows this year by introducing a social media twist to the mainly focused technology show.

At a typical networking event, attendees mingle and pass out business cards. But we noticed that business cards, as they currently exist, don’t often list Twitter IDs or links to other online forums. So for people looking to use social media for business and personal networking there is a disconnect.” explains Chris Breikss, Co-Founder and President of 6S Marketing.

The 6S Marketing Twitter theme will encourage attendees to visit the 6S booth and “tweet” (using Twitter) that they are at The Massive Tech Show. Photos (“twitpics”) of booth visitors will be taken on a 6S backdrop will be uploaded and announced on Twitter throughout the day, so that the Vancouver community gets to take a live look at who is attending the tradeshow and conference….Read the full press release

Twitter Beats Business Cards at the 2009 Massive Tech Show

Thursday, March 26th, 2009

VANCOUVER, BC, March 26, 20096S Marketing, one of North America’s top internet marketing companies, announces its sponsorship of the 2009 Massive Technology Show and plans to make waves at the event with a unique campaign to promote networking through Twitter.

“At a typical networking event, attendees mingle and pass out business cards. But we noticed that business cards, as they currently exist, don’t often list Twitter IDs or links to other online forums. So for people looking to use social media for business and personal networking there is a disconnect.” explains Chris Breikss, Co-Founder and President of 6S Marketing.

“At 6S, we recognize that social media is increasingly becoming a useful tool for people and businesses, and we wanted to incorporate it into our presence at Massive Tech. Our Twitter themed booth will provide a creative way for attendees to connect at the show that may see them gain an interest in Twitter and social media in general.”

The 6S Marketing Twitter theme will encourage attendees to visit the 6S booth and “tweet” (using Twitter) that they are at The Massive Tech Show. Photos (“twitpics”) of booth visitors will be taken on a 6S backdrop will be uploaded and announced on Twitter throughout the day, so that the Vancouver community gets to take a live look at who is attending the tradeshow and conference.

Additionally, each person who tweets will receive a 6S “twee-shirt” (t-shirt) and access to a sharpie pen. Attendees can then wear or carry around their “twee-shirts” and when they meet someone they can have them write their Twitter ID on the shirt as a substitute for swapping business cards. At the end of the show, attendees are left with the “twee-shirt” memento and a collection of new Twitter friends. The 6S booth will allow access to what is going on at Massive and allow attendees to interact with the online community.

Following the successful launch of the Social Media Marketing division, 6S continues to stay on the cutting edge of new techniques and trends in the social media space. The overall concept for the live Twitter feed during the show as well as the “twee-shirts” was developed to encourage the Vancouver business community to adopt new ways of thinking about networking and business through social media.

“We want to demonstrate that traditional networking, with a social media twist will allow individuals and businesses to further amplify messages and connect with others. We look forward to Twittering alongside everyone at Massive and seeing plenty of people wearing “twee-shirts” roaming around on April 1st.” comments Breikss. “We are hoping to bring a new networking experience to the show, and to have a great deal of fun in the process.”

The 2009 Massive Technology Show will be held on April 1, 2009 at UBC Robson Square. For more information visit: www.massivetechshow.com.

Using Social Media as a Brand Management Tool

Wednesday, March 25th, 2009

With the increased use of Social Media over the past few years, your brand message online is no longer in your hands. Whether your company has an online presence or not, your brand is alive across the Internet. A quick search on Twitter or Google will bring up a host of people talking about your brand. These conversations are talking place whether you are aware and in control of them or not.

Proactive companies are now monitoring the various Social Media platforms to track their brand mentions. What they then do with this information is up to them. The best companies will interject into the conversation and reinforce positive brand experiences or proactively try to rectify a poor brand experience. According to the results of the Social Media Survey results we recently released, 61% of companies surveyed  tracks what is being said about it online.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

March 18, 2009 – Vancouver, BC – Amidst all the buzz surrounding social media and popular networking sites, 6S Marketing, one of North America’s largest internet marketing firms, has conducted a survey to investigate trends in Canadian social media usage. Survey results reveal an overwhelming percentage of Canadians who have adopted social media for business and personal use and highlight the most popular forums and mediums for communication.

“Collecting statistics on social media trends is important in ensuring that efforts made on behalf of our clients in the social media space are targeted and amplified,” says Chris Breikss, Co-founder and President of 6S Marketing. “Beyond that, it was simply fascinating to gather the most up-to-date information on how and why Canadians are drawn to social media.”

On the heels of recent expansion of services to include Social Media Marketing, 6S created and distributed the survey to a database of over 10,000 Canadians including members of the Vancouver Board of Trade. Valued Employees Behind 6S’ Success

Tuesday, March 17th, 2009

The dot.com crash of almost a decade ago left a lot of people reeling after promises of big stock options and payouts that didn’t pan out.

As pool tables in trendy loft offices were replaced by dust bunnies and boxes, longtime friends Chris Breikss and John Blown decided to take a chance and stride back into the online business arena.

Now eight years and 30 employees later, the pair’s 6S Marketing company is a bona-fide success.

“We know it was a bit of a bizarre time to start an Internet-related company,” Breikss says of 6S, which deals with Internet advertising and marketing. “But we looked at it closely and saw a lot of opportunity and a void we could fill”…Read Full Story

Valued Employees the “6S” behind 6S Marketing

Tuesday, March 17th, 2009

As an Account Manger in the Internet Marketing industry working with a previous employer, I knew that 6S Marketing was THE place to work long before I had even stepped in the door. And others in the industry knew it too – as soon as others found out about my initial interview at 6S, my phone began to ring off-the-hook from other internet marketers wanting a hook-up.

A year-and-a-half later, working at 6S has been an amazing experience and opportunity. The culture that John Blown & Chris Breikss has created, along with the amazing people I work with, is unlike any other company I have worked for or know of in Vancouver. Sure, the Whistler weekend trips, go-karting, rock climbing & white-water rafting trips add to the great experience, but it’s the people who work at 6S, and having two amazing employers like John & Chris that make it one of the best places to work in Vancouver…Read the full story
