No Tweet Points For You

The following is the text of an email that I received today. At first, I thought that USHandicap.com had come up with a really cool new application that allowed you to track your golf scores and interact with your Twitter golfing buddies. Sadly this is not the case and they seem to think that they have invented the word “tweet” and the concept of tweeting. Somehow tweeting without Twitter isn’t the same, ya know?

We have a TWEET deal for you!

You were an active member of USHandicap.com, our premier online USGA Handicap systems, and we are extending you a very special offer.  We have reached the unprecedented level of having over 1,250,000 golfers in our system.  Why is this important?  USHandicap.com is exploding, and is arguably the largest online community of golfers in the United States!  We want you to come back to us, and be part of the most amazing group of golfers ever assembled in the United States.

We are extending a very special offer to our previous members, and have developed two options for you.  A paid USGA Handicap Index, or a free “recreational” handicap. 

Tweeting! Now A Part Of Our System
Tweeting is a new and fun way to keep in touch with your golfing buddies.  Anyone who is in your buddy list can see your “tweets”.  Tweet about your latest round, or a special deal you found on a website, or about a golfing event that is upcoming.  You can tweet about anything!

SMS Tweeting
You can set our Tweeting system up to send you text messages when someone tweets, or when any of the automated tweets are created.  Simply provide your cell phone number in our system, and select “SMS Notify” on the buddies you wish to get updates for, and the Tweet system will take care of the rest of it.

Tweet Points
Here’s where the system gets really interesting.  Every time you send a tweet, or a buddy sends a tweet, or you do other things on the website like just the simple matter of posting a round.  You collect Tweet Points.  These points can be redeemed for an ever-growing list of really cool things.  Every time you tweet, you collect points! We have all kinds of tweet point prize contests and hope you will participate!  You can even get next year’s handicap for free just by using your tweet points.  The more you tweet, the more points you collect.

Coming Soon! – Mobile Tweeting
Within the next couple of weeks, we will have our Mobile Tweet system completed.  You will be able to use any mobile device to update your status, and tweet your friends.  Our system will work on any mobile device, including the iPhone.
