Google / Yahoo Deal May Fall Through


For months rumors have been circling about a paid search partnership deal between Google and Yahoo. This deal was likely set up to offset the pressures Yahoo was “feeling” from both Microsoft and Yahoo shareholders wanting a Microsoft take-over. It sounds like today, the deal simply won’t happen because of the US Justice Department wanting concessions that both search engines don’t like.

Reported in the Wall Street Journal this morning, one huge factor in the partnership not going through is the Justice Department’s discussion of having the companies sign a consent decree stating the terms of the partnership.
