Foursquare has officially launched their Foursquare Business Pages and Merchant Platform at: foursquare.com/business. As readers of this blog know, I am a huge fan of LBS (locations based services) including Foursquare and Facebook Places. Recently the perception has been that Facebook Places was winning the battle between the 4 big players in LBS, including; Gowalla, Yelp, Facebook Places, and Foursquare.
Today, Foursquare hits back with a big punch providing an intuitive online merchant centre that allows businesses to claim their listings and start launching specials. Additionally, businesses can now get detailed analytics through the new ‘Venue Stats Dashboard.’
Another big change is the ability for brands to engage consumers on Foursquare. Brands can sign up for Foursquare Pages and Partner Badges. Brands can customize their Foursquare Pages with links and images and can also have their own custom branded URL such as www.foursquare.com/yourbrand/. Fans can follow the brand or business and receive updates much like Twitter.
This video (below) illustrates how you can use Foursquare for your business.
