We’ve just signed up for the 2009 Vancouver Canary Derby!

On June 27th, a team from 6S Marketing will be racing down Deer Lake Park in Burnaby to help raise funds for the Canary Foundation and the BC Cancer Foundation.

Stay tuned for updates on fundraising events and race car construction.

Update (May 15): The kart is here and we’ve unpacked the box.  Next step: assemble.

Update (May 25): We’ve started to assemble the kart.  Check out what we managed to pull off in one afternoon.  The cart’s chassis and frame have been put together and things are really starting to come together.  Once we finish slapping the rest of the parts together, we’ll turn our attention to the “style” aspect of the kart and drivers.  What’s our team’s theme going to be this year?  Stay tuned.

Update (June 16): The kart is mostly finished now.  Wheels have been sourced out and the body is completely assembled except for the rollbar and harness.  Painting has started with a few coats of “6S Marketing Blue” on the body and white all inside the cockpit.  Decals are being printed up and should be going on next week.  We’re going to scope out the course and do a few trial runs.

Update (June 26): Lots of progress since the last update.  Painting is all done.  We’ve gone with a blue body and red and white racing stripes down the nose.  The rollbar was fabricated by Josh Lorencz of J&R Customs, who did an amazing job.  He came down to our office, took some measurements, made the rollbar and then came back and installed it onto the cart.  If you’re ever looking for a mobile welding service, give Josh a call (604-809-2479)!  The seat is a modified gaming chair.  We had to cut open the leather and hack down the chair’s frame to make it shorter.  It’s also got two speakers mounted near the top so we can blast some tunes while racing down the hill.  Any song recommendations?  The last thing that needs to be done is applying the decals.  Once that’s done, we’re ready to rock!  Race day is tomorrow, so come out to Deer Lake Park and support or wish us luck in the comments.
